with Eric Jackson as the speaker.
(In place of previously advertised talk by Sheron Boyle)
The presentation describes how in 1918 two soldiers, Cardwell and Barrett, murdered the owner of a jewellery shop, robbed the shop and made their escape only to be caught just 4 days later, were tried tried and executed. It happened in Pontefract but could have occurred anywhere. Lavishly illustrated with Power Point slides and the opportunity is provided to discuss the legal aspects of the trial and compare it with how the law would work today
