Starting in Normanton
Age UK Wakefield District is launching an exciting new oral history project
celebrating the voices of working-class communities.
For generations, coalmining, textiles, glassmaking and more—shaped
lives in the five towns. Yet too many of these stories remain untold.
We’ll be interviewing older residents to create audio documentaries,
drawings, recordings, and photographs. These will be shared through
exhibitions in local libraries and at sites including Nostell Priory and the
National Coal Mining Museum.
